deviantLINK is still here! Unfortunately, in its current form it simply has too many members, so we've been deliberating over a way to run it for some time. We hope to get it up and running soon. Thanks to all who have checked back and asked about it. We're working on it!

deviantLINK is a photography project that any deviant can take part in! It helps people train their photographic eye, meet other deviants and get to know different styles and approaches to photography.

Just before each round is due to start, we'll note all members of the group who wish to participate informing them of the order of play. A round will begin with one of the Admins; they will post a photograph that they have taken based on a theme they have chosen. The next person in line has to interpret the theme of the photo and go take one of their own. Like Chinese Whispers, the photographs move down in a kind of chain until the last person posts a photo. For example, the theme will always be a one word thing, such as "Routine" or "Change." So, the admin will post the first photo with the theme being "Routine" and then the next person tries to work out what the theme is and takes a photo of what they think it is. Geddit?

At the end of the round, we'll reveal the original theme and all the guesses that the members sent in as to how they interpreted it. Yes! It's a good way of encouraging you to really look more closely at photos, as well as thinking more about the photos you take. It's also just hella fun.

How to join

Send us a note with "Subscribe" as the subject line telling us you want to join; then add us to your devwatch. Please note that if you only watch us and do not Note us, we will assume you just want to watch deviantLINK happen - which is fine! After noting us, we'll get in contact with you and tell you when the next round is due to start and such like. A feature in your journal/shoutboard/signature would also be much appreciated.

How to play

Okay, so as we said, we'll note with with all the details just before the round is about to begin. It'll start with an admin and then it'll progress in the order stated. When it's your turn, you will have 3 days to take a photo of your interpretation of what you think the theme is. Once you've taken your photo, upload it as a deviation [or a scrap, if you'd prefer] and then note us with the details of it, as well as what you think the theme is. We'll post it, credit you and link back to you. The week is divided into two parts: Sun - Tues and Thurs - Sat (Wednesdays off...) - that way, everyone gets at least one weekend day to take their photo if they can't find the time.

Simple? Simple. Also, feel free to add us to your devwatch without participating. This should hopefully stimulate some really fun photos!
